What style do you teach? My style is eclectic with strong influences from Iyengar, Anusara, Yin, Viniyoga and flow.

A rainy, blustery, wintery day spent snuggled in reading and then out for a yummy meal with friends or family.

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Camel. It was the first pose where an uncontrollable amount of emotion poured out of me. It was then I experienced that yoga can be physically healing as well as mentally and spiritually healing. This was unlike anything else I’d ever done!

What style of yoga do you teach? Strong influence of Shadow Yoga, a modern school of yoga that is rooted in classical Hatha Yoga. Shadow Yoga incorporates common principles in yoga, martial arts, Indian cultural dance, and Ayurveda systems of medicine. I am currently apprenticing in Shadow Yoga and am looking forward to teaching Shadow Yoga in the future.

What is your favorite yoga pose? My favorite yoga pose is Uttitha Trikonasana, also known as triangle pose. I really enjoy teaching this pose using proper alignment, different modifications and breathing techniques to further enhance the pose.

What style of yoga do you teach? I was trained in Hatha yoga, and am constantly inspired by the principles of Anusara and Iyengar.

Describe Your perfect day: My perfect day would be lying on a beach, with a cold refreshing coconut beverage, while looking out into the crystal clear blue ocean, and simultaneously getting a foot massage from my boyfriend Tyler

How many tattoos do you have? I have 2 tattoos. One that I got in Venice beach on the boardwalk when I was 16 and a second one that I will mostly likely have covered up.

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Sukhasana: I find the simple shape of this pose grounding, and naturally inspiring. It creates a solid, yet humble foundation, fertile soil from which I can grow and develop in wisdom, insight, and creativity.

What style of yoga do you teach? When I’m asked what style yoga I teach, I take pause. I suppose we can call it a variation of Vinyasa Flow, though, in the purest sense I create and support an environment that focuses on meditation in action. In this “hatha” meditation we use the breath as our object of focus.

Describe your perfect day? My first few breaths each morning take in the loving smiles of my wife and son. The rest of my day offers me the opportunity to express gratitude, love, and compassion, whatever the circumstances may be.

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Savasana. This seems like the easiest pose to
do because you just have to lie on your back, but to still the mind as well as the body is most challenging.

What style of yoga do you teach? I teach a mixed level flow which I refer to as Soulful Flow. It’s foundation is in Hatha flow, yet throughout the practice we may focus on alignment and hold the poses longer which is influenced by Anusara. All of this is combined with love, laughter and
a whole lot of soul music and you have what I call Gumbo…a little bit of everything thrown in one big pot.

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Jumping from Down Dog into a Handstand because there’s a moment when time ceases to exist!

What style of yoga do you teach? Hatha Flow. I take from all styles and use what feels right in my body. At the moment I would say that I’m most influenced by “Ahmanda Flow” created by Diane Hudock. She also teaches at Black Dog. It combines the alignment I crave from Iyengar, demands my physical focus and attention much like Pattabhi Jois and weaves in the ancient teachings of Patanjali. She’s quite the lady!

What 5 items would you want to have on a deserted island? My puppy, lover, iPod, yoga blocks and a high grade dark chocolate!

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Adho Mukha Vrksasana (handstand) because it embodies power, flight and a different perspective of things.

What style of yoga do you teach? An integrated approach to dynamic vinyasa. Influences are Ashtanga, Anusara and Kriya.

Describe your perfect day? Wake to my family, do yoga, have a latte while listening to classical music (overlooking the ocean?), swim, paint, teach yoga, make someone laugh, play with my son, throw a fabulous dinner party, bond with my husband (ahem), dream a beautiful dream.

What 5 items would you want to have on a deserted island? An ozonated water tower, a solar charged iPod, my Wustof cooking knives, a framed picture of my family, friends, a Satguru and sunscreen.

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Halasana with Knees Against Ears because it makes me feel very safe and quiet…plus the opening in the back body as I come out of the pose is a sensation I haven’t found in other poses.

What style of yoga do you teach?  I teach in the vinyasa tradition, bringing attention to the breath-body link and the idea of placing the body in a special, specific way to achieve greater alignment. I do a lot of restorative work in my own practice, so I will sneak in a pose or two at the end of a vinyasa class when I can.

How many tattoos do you have? I have one tattoo on the inside of my bottom lip – surprise!

What was your first concert? Sum 41 and Unwritten Law, I was 14 and went with 3 of my girlfriends, on a school night.

What style do you teach? (or style influences) Hatha Flow. I’m influenced by Krishnamacharya and his students, Indra Devi, B.K.S Iyengar, and Pattabhi Jois. I try to channel their wisdom into my classes.

Describe your perfect day in 1 or 2 sentences: I find couple of hours in the morning to myself to meditate, have some tea, do some yoga and read, followed by a day in the pool and ocean with my husband and daughters in beautiful Kauai.

What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Adho Mukha Svanasana (The Dog) It’s a great stretch and very calming. After long hours or sitting or standing, my back craves it. I don’t care where I am, I drop down in the dog. Last place I did this was yesterday at Rite Aid.

What style of yoga do you teach? Vinyasa. I respect in all forms of yoga and often incorporate different forms into my flow.

Describe your perfect day? Waking up with kisses from my cats and dogs and not paws pounding on my face “wake up woman, feed us”. A day with yoga, walking the doggies, dinner with friends or family, movie at home with candy and popcorn with my little furry animals…I’m a happy yogi.

Favorite yoga pose and why? Bakasana Crow pose – because it’s the gateway pose to arm balances – my favorite challenge. I love the feeling of flying 1 foot off the ground, sometimes I crash land, but when you’re at that altitude, you can just laugh & roll out of it!

Favorite yoga pose and why? downward facing dog because when I first began practicing yoga it was one of the hardest poses for me and now, when I’m in it, i find a great sense of freedom and groundedness as well as contentment rather than complacency. It helps remind me what yoga’s all about.

What style do you teach? (or style influences) I teach an alignment focused flow and am literally influenced in some way by every class and workshop I attend.

Favorite yoga pose and why? Urdhva Dhanurasana. It’s just so extreme, nothing any like shape you might find yourself in normally. It’s a crazy pose, like something a mad scientist would think up.

Favorite yoga pose and why? Urdhva Dhanurasana. Stretch Pose. I never leave the house until I have done this posture. It is a really tough posture and I have a love/hate relationship with it, but it completely centers me.
