Peter Barnett was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa where he enjoyed a reckless youth and a talent for percussion instruments. Discovering yoga in 1996, he studied and practiced regularly with Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Rian Shumacher, Max Strom and Steven Earth, and credits these teachers among his strongest early influences. He earned his first teacher certification in Power Yoga, and followed that up with two additional teacher-training programs in Anusara Yoga. Peter remains very committed to his own growth and education, constantly reading, practicing and learning, and bringing this enthusiasm and new ideas to his classes.
Sigrid Matthews began her yoga journey at age 7 in a loft apartment in San Francisco. Since 1971 she has studied many teaching styles, including Iyengar, Viniyoga, Kundalini, Power, and Anusara. While an undergrad at UCLA, Sigrid worked with her most formative yoga teacher, the late Billy Porter. His generous spirit, loving guidance, and simple approach not only launched Sigrids personal quest for self growth, but became the foundation of her teaching career. Twenty years of teaching experience with hundreds of students in Los Angeles, New York, and abroad, coupled with training from movement specialists Loyd Williamson and Shaman Gabrielle Roth, hands-on healer Barbara Brennan, and certifications in yoga and massage have made Sigrid a unique and well-rounded instructor.
Matt Schwartz began studying the healing arts at a young age, and has earned a Bachelors degree in Biomechanics and Kinesiology and a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has been strongly influenced by Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Dance, and the Internal Arts. He is able to find the innate similarities of these disciplines and merge them together to create a unique blend of movement designed to move the body through a full range of motion and open the energetic channels. Matt has dedicated most of his study to the teachings of Krishnamacharya, Shandor Remete, Grand Master Kuo, and the flow of nature.
